Your girl is ready for spring.
Thing #1: Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, the first national tallgrass prairie in the country, is about an hour outside Chicago. It’s the largest wild space in the Chicago metropolitan area and the largest tallgrass prairie restoration east of the Mississippi. Once nothing but farms and munitions factories, its 20,000 acres (with 33 miles of hiking trails!) have been restored to its uniquely American roots. (I love stories like this—they prove that beautiful spaces can be created.)
Thing #2: In Fairfax County, Virginia, there’s a Frank Lloyd Wright home on the grounds of an estate partially designed by George Washington for his granddaughter. Taylor Swift should do a concert there.
Thing #3: Speaking of eras, you can walk or bike from the Anne Frank House to Barbie’s dream home in 2.2 miles. (Just go slowly, or you’ll get dizzy from the culture shock.) Amsterdam’s WONDR is an immersive, Lisa Frank-ified experience with a dash of ABBA and Willy Wonka. It’s like Meow Wolf, but with more pastels. It’s like that Monet experience, but actually good.
Thing #4: Sorry, snowplow companies. We’re getting close to roads and highways being self-heating.
Thing #5: There’s a toothpaste coming on the market that…changes your mouth’s bacteria…by introducing new bacteria that don’t produce lactic acid…like a vaccine. A mouth vaccine. I think. Look into it. However it works, this is the kind of investment in tech we need, not AI movies (and robots taking over my job).
Wow, who knew twifc was also good for dental advice?!
